There are many ways to volunteer:
Income Tax Preparers prepare the federal, Pennsylvania and local returns for our clients. Tax Preparers must be IRS Certified. To become certified requires self study, a one week training class in mid January and the passing of an IRS test. The training is intensive and is sponsored by the IRS and the AARP Foundation. All training and testing are free. Preparation of returns begins in early February and lasts through April 15. .
Schedulers answer the telephone and schedule tax preparation appointments for our clients, at those sites which require appointments.

Greeters meet the clients when they arrive at the site. They help the clients fill out the necessary paperwork and generally help with the logistics of running the site. They organize the clients paper work which helps the Tax Preparers.
Marketing/outreach Provides communications to media contacts about volunteer recruitment and program publicity. Works with business and individuals to obtain donations to support the needs of the TaxAide program. Does not require doing tax returns and can be accomplished with flexible hours and from home.
Technology Assistants help Income Tax Preparers with computer hardware, software, network setup. Does not require doing tax returns and can be accomplished with flexible hours.
Administrative Coordinator coordinates and directs administrative activities, distributes information to the management team, provides information and advice on expense procedures, prepares reports on site, volunteers, and activity, ensures that training on administrative topics within the program’s policy and procedures is provided, and Maintains necessary records and files.
